Client
PwC is an enterprise client of Tech Cloud.
The project combined data architecture on Dataverse with reporting in Power BI.
Challenge
The goal was scalable analytics: a data architecture that could support many reports and keep growing, with Power BI as the reporting layer. That calls for an architectural decision up front, because the data model decides how quickly, and how consistently, reports can be built later.
What we built
An enterprise Dataverse architecture and a Power BI implementation for scalable analytics, with the reports built on the same governed data foundation.
Result
The implementation produced 40+ reports and saves 2 hours daily, on an architecture designed to scale.
How we approach projects like this
The following is the general approach we apply to analytics on Dataverse. It describes our method, not a list of PwC-specific design decisions.
- A data model designed for reporting as well as for applications, with shared definitions for the key figures.
- Security in the model: Dataverse security roles and row-level security in Power BI, so people see only what they should.
- Separated environments for development and production, with a controlled release path.
- Reports built on shared datasets rather than one data model per report.
